The Mysterious Disappearance Of Bitcoin White Paper From Apple’s Mac OS

- MacOS Ventura 13.4 beta removed Virtual Scanner II app and Bitcoin white paper.
- Every MacOS shipped with a hidden PDF of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin white paper for five years.
- The white paper was discovered in Virtual Scanner II app and has been removed by Apple.
9to5Mac reported on April 25 that the latest MacOS Ventura 13.4 beta no longer includes the Virtual Scanner II app, and as a result, the Bitcoin white paper has also been removed.
According to a blog post by technologist Andy Baio on April 5th, every copy of MacOS shipped with a PDF version of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin white paper for the past five years.
The Bitcoin white paper was discovered in macOS’s Virtual Scanner II, with its purpose unknown, suspected to be a joke among Apple engineers.
Meanwhile, Apple Insider reported that some wild conspiracy theories have surfaced, including speculation that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was actually Satoshi Nakamoto. However, the document has been removed from the latest version of the Mac operating system, suggesting that Apple did not find it amusing.
The Bitcoin white paper was discovered in a folder within the Image Capture app along with other seemingly unrelated files such as PDFs and images. Furthermore, 9to5Mac added,
This pretty much confirms our original theory that both the Bitcoin white paper and the internal tool were never meant to be found by regular users.

AppleInsider reported on Tuesday that the digital copy of the original Bitcoin whitepaper, which had been hidden on Macintosh computers for over five years, will not be included in an upcoming operating system update by Apple.
The PDF version was discovered by designer Joshua Dickens who tweeted about it in 2020. It gained public attention three weeks ago and prompted speculation about why it was hidden.
