CoinMarketCap has ventured into the realm of reality TV by launching a new competition series titled “Killer Whales.” This show is inspired by the popular TV program “Shark Tank.”
Together with Web3 entertainment firm Hello Labs, the upcoming show will give entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their ventures to a panel of judges dubbed the “Killer Whales,” consisting of Web3 company founders, influencers, and entrepreneurs. Paul Caslin, who produced the MTV VMA Awards, established Hello Labs.
Killer Whales is a fun and exciting opportunity to bring the entrepreneurial energy of the Web3 space to homes all over the world.
Jonathan Isaac, chief marketing officer at CoinMarketCap
As of May 2, interested parties can submit their applications through Hello.one and CoinMarketCap. The selected participants will undergo several rounds of interviews in Hollywood, California. Filming for the show is scheduled to commence in June, and it will be released on major streaming platforms as well as on Hello Labs’ on-demand Hello TV service.
Our aim is to open the door to the next billion users into Web3 by entertaining and educating them on all things crypto.
Hello Labs’ CEO Sander Gortjes
In recent months, several television programs related to Web3 have emerged, showcasing the varied applications of blockchain technology and a rising interest in cryptocurrencies among mass media consumers. One such show is “Krapopolis,” created by Dan Harmon, co-creator of “Rick and Morty,” which is set to air on Fox sometime in 2023. In August, the show released its first NFT collection called 10,420 Krap Chicken, allowing holders to vote on elements of the show, access exclusive content, and earn rewards.
Besides, other NFT collections are exploring ways to use their intellectual property (IP) across various media platforms. For example, NounsDAO, a Web3 community, has approved proposals for a full-length movie and a TV series. Meanwhile, the Doodles NFT collection, known for its vibrant artwork, recently acquired the Emmy-nominated animation studio Golden Wolf and has expressed plans to expand the Doodles franchise by telling engaging stories.
